Why y'all care what WSSU calls itself? We been referring to WSSU as SU, State for over 30 years. WSSU is 120 years old we can do as we please!

My siblings and aunt graduated from Winston and it is referred to as SU. They are just not the only ones.

Back to football, I am a fan of WSSU, but realistically, they only began playing for National Championships when they left the MEAC and moved back to Division II.
To continually rank them against schools you know they cannot beat (the previous MEAC seasons before the move) is asinine.

Rampride2010, it's good that your team is finally in a conference where they can actually compete and win. Since they joined the smaller CIAA conference and managed to win the conference the past couple of years, you have been smelling yourself. But how soon we forget who WSSU was and where they ranked when they were in the MEAC conference just a few short years ago. Teams in the MEAC used WSSU for practice when they were struggling to remain a member of the conference. Not only did they not measure up in the MEAC, they couldn't afford to remain in the Meac, which was one of the main reasons they made the quick exit. And you know what they say "If you can't run with the big dogs, then it's wise to stay under the porch." I can't front, the CIAA looks good on WSSU, but the MEAC most certainly didn't. During their MEAC days, they couldn't even buy a game and tell folks they won it. If I remember correctly when WSSU was in the MEAC, they were tied for triple last.

Carolina football is trash. That's accepted throughout the state.



So...just so Im not assuming, you feel that WSSU football is on par with those programs?

I'm sorry but there is a BIG difference in every school that you listed.



You see, FSU, UF, and OSU not only played in National Championship games but they've actually WON BCS and National Championships. Those teams don't have to go around bragging because they "played for a national title"...they actually finished the job and WON championships ....PLURAL. Those three schools have 12 title between them.

Yeah talent aint nothin with out experience in the game of football. A guy has to get games under his belt in order to MENTALLY engage and to mature. He'll see defensive schemes that he's never seen before and will be ask to make adjustments. That's tough for a first year QB with NO games played. Everybody look good in practice, lol....

They might be trash in the ACC conference (in which they just won their division last year)...but they are still levels above WSSU, or any of the HBCU's named in this topic.

The problem with playing Wake Forest is that they did play each other many many many years ago but now the stadium won't be able to accommodate all the fans plus they play each other in basketball!

And they are in the Cleveland Classic and have been for the 2nd or 3rd year straight!
and the only other classic we played in annually was The Battle of I-40 Classic with A&T but we see how that is going SMDH!
