My my aren't you interested? well... we'll probably find another quality coach and continue to have a successful and competitive football program think that's about it. 160k is plenty of Hampton wants him for more they can have em rumors are saying he'll be getting 200k+ up there so more power to him.

Quite frankly I'd rather not continue pay raises for a coach who was to leave every year. If he experiences the same success at Hampton he'll most likely leave them as well, if he under performs they'll most likely get rid of him... it's dog eat dog out there.

Unless the job comes with some good perks, there are family/sentimental ties with it, or they are treating you VERY WELL, you're liable to leave at any point. Everyone has an escape clause, so-to-speak lol.

In other words, people aren't leaving JUST for money. The opportunity for more, better successes is what fuels athletes and other competitive businesses.

Hey, it is what it is. I would hope that he would stay and push the team to an actual D2 Championship. Four seasons of what he did isn't enough to me, not a knock on Coach Maynor, but I wouldn't define that as something great.

Doesn't this belong in the sports forum?

Although Maynor is a good coach, WSSU faithful knew we were bound to lose him. The guy interviews annually, which really doesn't give us any type of stability. I feel he didn't put his effort into the 7-0 loss to Shephard Univ. Rudy Johnson visibly wanted to be put back in the game in the 2nd half - instead Maynor went with terrible third string the rest of the game.

However, it is going to take more than coaching to get Maynor wins, you need the backing of the administration. WSSU will be fine as long as Hayes is still with us.

They were already paying him D1 (FCS) money, so it would have been silly to pay him more. He just wanted to leave.

Pretty much.

You don't a lot of recognition being a D2 coach. If they were still in FCS, I don't think he would've left, unless it was for a FBS school.
