Dr. Cliff Watkins, Chair of the A&T School of Music, had a picture of the SC State 101 in California at the Rose Parade.

Dr. Watkins spent time at SC State, Tenn St. and A&T.

My query is simple...which HBCU bands have participated in the Rose Parade. I "think" I remember Southern years ago. This is the kind of thing we need to clarify to preserve our history.

Why does the rose bowl website say " In 1980, the Grambling Marching Band was the first HBCU band invited to the Rose Bowl Parade and the first HBCU band to lead the parade" ? Was MVSU a HBCU back then?

I have no idea. MVSU has alaways been a HBCU.

SU was in the Rose Bowl Parade in the 70's. I believe around 72.
