I hate to admit it but Dayum, and if you look at MEAC bands back then:

FAMU
BCC
SCSU
A&T
Howard
Morgan
Del St

Who were the top 2??? I mean really

I don't know MHZ. A bunch of folks would put SCSTATE at the top of the mountain. They did not get the exposure of other bands, but EVERY band director knew they were the truth!!!!!

1978-1986 (minus 1983) :surprised: :surprised: :surprised:

I asked my dad about the three sousaphones. He said, and I quote,

"Dammit, if you are late you don't get in the BLEEP picture!"

That's exactly what I'm sayin from memory. My question was kind of redundant and satirical. I mean we were far from garbage but kind of Jeckll and Hyde, BCC was solid but still growing, HU,Morgan and Del St. could take your crowd on any given day. Then you had FAM and SCSU, the two obvious monsters of the conference. Size, sound and consistency. Could'nt imagine seeing both of them in the same season :surprised:
But make no mistake, we feared NO-ONE. We just acknowledged and respected quality musicianship and showmanship from the top down.
