I have the footage of halftime and the post-game show from that game at Bowie and I also have an Album the Marching Stridders cut back in '82. Oh yeah !!! I have homecoming '88 with Flavor Flav at Spingarn High School, homecoming '84 at Firebird Stadium(reel to reel no sound) and Fayetteville State Homecoming when UDC came down and took over in the early 80's. :hall: :hall: :hall:

I will trade you anything in my collection for UDC footage. I have not completed my update, but you can check out my list by visiting my site.

I have footage of UDC doing the following....

Their first homecoming in 1979...
Their participation in the Georgia Avenue Day Parade
Their performance at Howard University
Their concert performance for the album recording
Their performance at Livingstone
Their performance when Hampton came up here at the game was at Cardozo
Their performance when UDC went to Hampton...and the force played the Olympic theme...
Their performance when UDC went to Fayetville State University....
Their performance when they played at the Meadowlands...and when Myrick went ballistic on one of the ushers in Giants stadium...

Toodles, I gave the Smithsonian some great footage for their band exhibit...but they chose to display Southern University...and I still ask my question why??? Especially if the exhibit was about DC bands.....case in point the DC in UDC should have meant something...duh?

I know it all too well bruh. That's why I created the Band Smithsonian!! I have a lot of footage, over 3000 and counting. I have one video of UDC showing up at a NSU game! The look on NSU's faces was priceless! Anyways, I will trade you anything you want for some of that footage.

If that's 90 or 92, if you ALSO have the Bowie footage on there, I need the Bowie footage BADLY. Someone swiped my BSU 89 tapes from me about 13 years ago and NO ONE else has that footage of where we came from to where we are now (I'm a historian).

By the way, anyone who has the CIAA championship from 1989 (that would be anyone from WSSU), if you have Bowie on there (yes, the little 12 piece band...lol), can you hit me up ?

WSSU was a TIGHT 64 block that year. :hall:

Hey old heads:

If you wanna put any of your old stuff online, bring your tapes to my classroom (I'm the band director at TJMS in Lanham..... http://www.pgcps.org/~tjohnson ). If you let me know what evening you're coming thru, I'll bring my DVD burner from home and convert your tapes for you IN FRONT OF YOU (so they never leave your sight). Whatever the length of the tape is will be the amount of time it'll take. This will also help set you up to be able to put your stuff online.

Hurry.

VCR tapes begin to deteriorate rapidly after 12 years.

Wow, i never came over here and now i know why they call it Strictly for the "Old Heads" lol. Just kidding. Anyways, reading about UDC Marching Band has given me a new outlook on UDC for real.

They played against A&T, and Hampton...and NSU...wow!!!! Im reading the forum like...are u freaking kidding me.

I guess there wasnt MEAC back then or those bands werent in the MEAC then. Or did UDC used to be in the MEAC but got dropped down?

UDC didn't have a football team, from what I understand.

UDC's band was famous for showing up out of nowhere and smacking you with a fff C minor chord.

My ears are still ringing from 1992. They marched a 96 block and drilled to 'Humping Around' by Bobby Brown. I forgot what their dancers danced to, but I do remember them dancing to Jam by Michael Jackson, throwin' some reggae in there and coming off the field to September by EWF. That encounter influenced about 60% of BSU shows (I know because I wrote them) from 93 to 95 in some way or another.

I remember one of the great battles still talked about to this date. @ A@T after playing at them on our way marching back to the band room was the tuba battle, Uba Phi Tuba against the Thunder Brothers of NCAT and SCSU. I made friends at that battle that I am still tight with to this day. Funny how fait is, because after the program ended so sadly at UDC, I ended up transfering and going to NCAT and marching with them. Crazy!! BEst of both worlds...They use to get on me man..lol The old heads would not let me down off of that. It was a great day!!! UDC was respected!!! And then to hear the other band tell stories of the battles was the greatest. :pimp:

I remember one year that a rumor had started about UDC coming to A&T's homecoming. I was estatic....all they kept saying was it will never happen again what happened then, underestimating a band because if their size. Found out it was Just the name of Hoover that got it running and it was Wesley Hoover bringing Shaw JR High School to greensboro.... Not Sr. Hoover. That man had the respect of DR. Hodge for years. I guess that's why Doc stayed on my case too.
:surprised: :surprised: :surprised: Man, now that's hot!!!! :pimp:

I have some footage of them, when they came to NCCU when we were playing Kentucky State. UDC did the post game. Man, they came on the field and blew Stephanie Mills "I Feel Good as a fanfare. It was awesome. If I locate it, I will post it. If I am not mistaken, that was 1990.

To all Non-Believers:

UDC was the truth. Hoover was outstanding. They were like Navy SEALS- they were not on your schedule; they showed up under stealth and ABSOLUTELY TOOK YOUR CROWD.
