Does anyone have any footage or clips from the University of District of Columbia Marching Firebirds?[color=#FF0000][/color]

I had some footage when they performed at the Black Family Reunion, Sharon Pratt Kelley's Innauguration and When they performed at the NSU vs BSU game in '90. I said HAD because I have so much footage I'll have to locate it.

I would love to see some of that. To me UDC was one of those band people would sleep on until they played. If they would've been letz say the MEAC or the CIAA, they probably would've been one of the best.

Darrel Watson; Head band director of Ballou Sr.High School , Washington, D.C. southeast, would have footage also. Call the school. He marched with us at UDC.
I will contact some other cats to see.

I heard about that game! LOL Some other folks had been recruited by Milligan to come down and fill-in for Bowie's 13 folk in the band back then.

I used to have the 92 footage when UDC came right after we'd performed at halftime, but it's long disappeared.

Their first homecoming in 1979...
Their participation in the Georgia Avenue Day Parade
Their performance at Howard University
Their concert performance for the album recording
Their performance at Livingstone
Their performance when Hampton came up here at the game was at Cardozo
Their performance when UDC went to Hampton...and the force played the Olympic theme...
Their performance when UDC went to Fayetville State University....
Their performance when they played at the Meadowlands...and when Myrick went ballistic on one of the ushers in Giants stadium...

Toodles, I gave the Smithsonian some great footage for their band exhibit...but they chose to display Southern University...and I still ask my question why??? Especially if the exhibit was about DC bands.....case in point the DC in UDC should have meant something...duh?

How can a person get some of that footage?

The majority of my old-school footage is currently on loan with another dude right now...who's going to convert a lot of footage to DVD... I am very protective of my tapes....after having a bad experience with the Smithsonian...just need time to recoup.

All I remember was Kojak doin' front flips/summersaults on our field as UDC came onto the field playing 'Humping Around' in 92.

Their dance routine was off of 'Jam'.... and they came off the field with September.....

I have the footage of halftime and the post-game show from that game at Bowie and I also have an Album the Marching Stridders cut back in '82. Oh yeah !!! I have homecoming '88 with Flavor Flav at Spingarn High School, homecoming '84 at Firebird Stadium(reel to reel no sound) and Fayetteville State Homecoming when UDC came down and took over in the early 80's.

I remember that Dyslexic. We had to march that loooong arse parade the length of Benning Rd then they had the audacity to want us to do field shows. If memory serves E.E Smith was also there.
