If you could talk to a HBCU band legend for 15 minutes, what would you ask him?
I'm working on an interview (will be finalized in a few days) for the next podcast.

Post your questions here and I will ask him!

Most of yall will be able to put 2+2 together and find out who I'm working on, but I wont put his name out there before I finalize it.

OK...

What is his most memorable performance?

What major obstacles has he faced as a Black Director?

Who in his opinion is representing in his eyes?

What young new director does he feel is a up an coming star?

If he was offered special contract to come back for 5 years, would he take it?

What trends has he noticed both in his years as director and since he's retired ?

What are HBCU bands of today 'missing' that older editions of HBCU bands had ?

Questions:

1). Bands have gotten bigger over the years. Do you view this as a good or bad thing?

2). The work ethic among students today, in general, is not what it used to be. But strictly from a musical stand point, are today's musicians better, worst, or equally as good as yesterday's musicians.

Question:

1) You probably conducted a group of students who would march "for the love" of the group. How would you combat apathy in today's HBCU Band programs?

2) What would be your solution for students with good work ethic but not much technical work vs. a great player with a horrible attitude...in other words apathy vs. empathy????

What steps could we take to inspire more kids to get into bandrooms at lower levels so we can increase the number of quality musicians coming out of high school?
