Well let me be the first to say welcome back collegues to the fifth...

Since school is starting soon we should inform each other on where we teach, what subjects we teach and how long we have been teaching... the 5th can be a good place to network and brainstorm with other teachers.

I teach at a middle school in Prince Georges County Maryland, I will be teaching band (89 students) and general music (54 students) and this is my 6th year teaching.

I'm an assistant band director at Forest Brook HS in Houston (70 students right now). I also have a couple of choir classes (don't know how many students yet). This will be my first year there, and my fifth overall.

I teach middle school band at Southside Middle in Albany, GA... I started out two weeks ago with 30 students, now I have about 60... 40 are beginners. I also assist the HS band that my school feeds into. (Arranging, percussion, specifically).

This is my first year teaching.

You two are funny. What up Wick.

I'm in PG too. I have a little over 70 signed up for band right now -- somewhere around 100 for general music. That band number should go up a bit by the end of next week.

Wutz up everybody,

I teach band in Darlington,SC. Been at it for 7yrs. All High School directors should look into attending the Dillon B.O.T.B., its a nice event, that's judged fairly.

Don't hate it.... you can get some serious work done.... as long as it's an A/B day and not a 4x4 block, you'll be ok.

I would think that, Kerry, but I can't get them to retain what they learned the class period before... And it sucks that the Principal sees fit to have assemblies and entire grade level discussions during Exploratory time...

You think that's the case in every case ? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you.

I teach beginning band and middle school in Savannah, GA. About 58 confirmed at the MS--Don't know the elementary numbers yet(i usually pull about 25-30). Should pick up 20-30 more after open house. Start 6th Grade auditions tomorrow; go back to work (officially on Monday) and school starts Sept. 4. This is my 5th year teaching MS after teaching HS for 7 years. What's up KOOLWATER and koolaid? (formerly teebjay701028 and former Band Director at Lee Central HS in Bishopville, SC)

To all returning BDs...continue what you do and do it well.
To the new kids on the block...stick with it...it gets better...you'll have some stories to tell one day
To everybody...God will Bless you in all your endeavors...just make sure what you're doing is what's right.
